Mingu International Trading Sdn. Bhd. started as a small-scale hardware construction material dealer in 1973 with the name, Emico Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. in Bachang, Melaka, Malaysia. The main business was to sell and distribute construction material and Nippon Paint. As business grew and foreseeing the need to offer a wider product range to customers, the operation hub re-located to warehouses in Malim Jaya and the Bukit Rambai industrial area. With the expansion of business and perceiving another niche market, Mingu International Trading was formed in 2005.
Mingu International Trading’s main scope of business is to import and trade in construction and industrial raw materials such as steel bars, wired rods, structural steel coils (such as galvanized coils, GA coil, pre-printed coils, corrugated sheets (Lion King Brand) and many other building materials. Mingu also provides one-stop value added services that include Recoiling, Slitting and Shearing services for all kinds of materials. The company now serves over 500 customers across Malaysia.
Mingu’s current market plan is to expand its factories, or hubs, across Malaysia to increase its market share and improve its services to clients. Currently Mingu has factories in Ipoh and Malacca and are in the process of opening new hubs in Kelantan and Klang.
While many businesses were affected by the Movement Control Order, Mingu was able to scale new heights in sales as opportunities opened up. Over the past two years, business volume increased from an average 100m a year to 180m a year, although faced with many challenges.
Mingu is always striving to be different in the market. Aligning with the current web trend, Mingu’s managing director has invested heavily in web platform for building materials (HUBS.my) and FMCG industry (Baloy.com.my). Mingu plans for IPO in the coming years with its expansion in market share throughout Malaysia as well as creating an online presence in the market.
