Website
IGS English is an English learning centre which teaches English as a first language. We provide classes for both students between ages 4 and 18. The nature of the business is designed to assist students to excel in their academic English at affordable rate. We not only help the kids to excel in academic but to build their characters via emotional learning. The teachers in IGS English are emotionally attached to the children as we teach and nurture them like our own children.
As at 2021, IGS English has over 450 new enrolments and we have coached almost more than 3000 students. The business has steadily grown in a few years’ time. We now have students from areas which are 10 km away from us and even from Australia and East Malaysia.
IGS English’s core offering is its creative writing and public speaking programmes. The centre’s creative writing programme, which is its most popular, is designed to equip both amateur and advanced writers with the skills to craft stories that impress. Most centres in Malaysia hardly cover writing skills, resulting them to perform badly in schools.
The Leadership English programme is another core offering of IGS English Centre. The programme is designed to improve students’ communication, negotiation, analytical, debating and discussion skills. This provides a platform for the students to unleash their potentials in public speaking.
Besides the above programmes, IGS English offers IGCSE English, Starters English, Public Speaking and Reading Programmes. IGS English uses materials from Oxford publisher, which are known for their high standards of English. Currently, the centre is in the process of writing and publishing its own original materials.
Unlike most other English centres in the Klang Valley, IGS English understands that it is leveraging on the strength of its Creative Writing programme and Leadership English programme which focus on important but often neglected skills like speaking and writing. Most Malaysian public schools do not place emphasis on these skills which can be a disadvantage for students once they leave school.
So far, IGS has prepared hundred of students who have successfully been awarded scholarships to various institutions in Singapore to further their studies. This is the result of a high standard at IGS English and its emphasis on improving writing and speaking skills.
The biggest contribution I believe IGS English gives to the community is placing emphasis on the happiness and personal growth of a child, not just on academic achievement. We believe this change in perspective can bring about huge positive effects on children as they start to see themselves as potential contributors to society, as opposed to just a hamster in wheel, having to get good grades and do well in school.
We also give FREE guidance for students who are going to sit for school exams and public examinations such as UPSR, PT3, SPM and IGCSE. We have been doing this since 2013. Our main intention is to be part of their struggles and success and continue to give them emotional support when they need it the most.
We have been the organiser for FREE Storytelling competition, Public Speaking Competition and Poem Recitation Competition in Atria Shopping Gallery as children need the platform to unleash their potential. As usual, we will continue to support their learning by giving away free trophies, gifts and certificates to encourage these students
