Animal Medical Centre: Leaders in Companion Animal Veterinary Health Care
Animal Medical Centre (AMC) is a beacon of excellence in trauma orthopaedics, ophthalmology, 24-hour emergency, and companion animal critical care. Founded in 1972 by Datuk Dr. S. Sivagurunathan, AMC has evolved from a specialized orthopaedics practice into Malaysia’s first ISO 9001:2015 accredited pioneers, leading companion, and oldest private veterinary hospital.Through the passion, sacrifice & resiliency of the founder and his son, Dr. Amilan Sivagurunathan, AMC has not only reached 54 years of service but has also raised the bar for veterinary healthcare specialisation and animal welfare in Malaysia and the region. AMC has proudly served as a teaching and training hospital for veterinary students from the Veterinary Faculty of University Putra Malaysia since 1990 and in 2010, extended its services as an approved training provider for University Malaysia Kelantan. The dedicated team of over 90+ certified and trained staff ensures exceptional care for every pet that walks through its doors.
The team is driven by a passion for the human-animal bond and commitment to pioneering advanced diagnostic veterinary care. Our comprehensive services include Accurate Diagnosis, Professional Care, State-of-the-Art Techniques, Expert Consultation, Ophthalmology Services, 24/7 Supervision, Research and Education and Animal Welfare Support.
AMC’s fees adhere to veterinary standard guidelines, with specialist service rates among the most competitive both regionally and internationally. AMC’s growth and adherence to international standards of veterinary care is a testament to its legacy. As a founding member of VET-ONE USA (1975) and one of the first Asian members of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS), AMC has played a significant role in advancing veterinary practices. Datuk Dr. S. Sivagurunathan, who served as an Associate Professor at UPM and held leadership roles in the Veterinary Association of Malaysia (VAM) and the Malaysian Small Animal Veterinary Association (MSAVA), also authored "Pets Have Feelings Too" in 1997 to commemorate AMC’s 25th anniversary.
Today, AMC continues to introduce innovative facilities and services across the Klang Valley. AMC’s commitment is to deliver the highest quality veterinary care in a nurturing environment, educate pet owners on responsible pet ownership, and maintain a professional, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. AMC is also deeply dedicated to enhancing animal welfare standards in Malaysia through continuous education, training programs, and active participation in animal welfare initiatives.
