Steel Recon Industries (SRI) was founded at a time when the Malaysian firefighting industry was in its infancy. Back then, the market relied predominantly on imported firefighting equipment from Europe and America. But since the set-up of its first production and assembly lines, the company has never looked back.
SRI’s core vision over the past 50 years has been to establish itself as a global leader in the fight against fire and amongst its mission statements is to be at the forefront of firefighting innovation through continuous R&D and to continuously uphold quality standards to ensure product reliability. It is this vision and these mission statements that give the company its focus when planning strategies for growth both in the Malaysian market and internationally.
Known locally as the pioneer of equipment manufacturing, the company has spent the last five decades perfecting its craft and expanding its product line. It is now the largest Malaysian exporter of fire equipment and technology and prides itself as being a one stop shop for both its international and local clients by producing everything from landing valves to fire suppression systems in its own 400,000 square foot facility. It is one of the few firefighting manufacturers globally that still retains its own iron foundry. With the amount of local confidence in SRI’s brand, it is unsurprising that the company is the firefighting manufacturer of choice for many regions globally, with its top markets being Asia, Australasia and the Middle East. SRI’s global network stands at over 70 countries, and it exports its products to far flung places such as Turkiye, South America and some African countries.
In recent years, SRI has seen an uptick in the export of the newest fire suppression system in its product line up called Streamex (an environmentally friendly alternative to the harmful halon agents currently in market), as well as a marked increase in the sales of an existing suppression system called SR-200 for which we gained new international approvals. As the world moves into an increasingly tech-driven and environmentally conscious landscape, SRI believes that its responsibilities as a manufacturer in the firefighting industry encompasses the weight of providing products equipped to face the new challenges of the future, one that not only protects our next generation locally, but the world over.
